Pre Menstrual Syndrome 93 – Pre menstrual Syndrome and Chinese Herbs – Jujubae Date ( Da Zao)

Premenstrual syndrome effects over 70% to 90% of women before menopause in the US and less for women in Southeast Asia because of their difference in living style and social structure. The occurrence of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) have more than doubled over the past 50 years due to the acceptance of it as a medical condition that is caused by unhealthy diet with high in saturated food. Premenstrual syndrome is defined as faulty function of the ovaries related to the women's menstrual cycle, it effects a women's physical and emotional state, and sometimes interferes with daily activities as a result of hormone fluctuation. 1. Antioxidant
Jujubae date contains all kinds of antioxidant including Vitamin C and Beta carotene, which not only help to protect the breaking off the capillary wall and prevent excessive blood flow but also helps to improve the immune system in regulating DNA duplication and fighting against infection and inflammation of reproductive organ.

2. Rutin
Rutin is one of bioflavonoids which besides helps to strengthen the capillary wall which also helps to lower the cytotoxicity of oxidized bad cholesterol resulting in in creasing the blood transportation of nutrients and oxygen to the body cells need and lessening the risk of low energy causing fatigue, loss of memory, dizziness and tiredness.

3. Organic acid
Jujubae date also contains organic acid including tartric, catechin and linoleic acid besides help to improve the immune function fighting against allergic reaction, it also helps to balance the levels of prostaglandins family through stimulating the conversion of GLA to PGE1 resulting in lessening the premenstrual pain and cramps.

4. Sedative
It is also used as sedative in traditional medicine to calm the nervous tension resulting in reducing the risk of anxiety, depression and physical and emotional stress.

5. Liver tonic
Jujubae date has been used as a liver tonic medicine in China for over 4000 years, thereby, increasing the liver in carbohydrate synthesis and fat and protein metabolism resulting in reducing the risk of nervous tension causing premenstrual pain and cramps and other symptoms of PMS.
